Mr. MacDonald is an experienced mining engineer and brings 35 years of multi-commodity and international experience to Wallbridge. He has extensive experience in underground mining, operational management, project studies, construction, metallurgy, processing, risk and compliance auditing and health and safety management.
Over several decades, he has been a senior operations manager and overseen the successful development of major gold and copper mines, each creating value for shareholders, local communities, and Governments.
These developments included ASARCO’s Young Mine in Knoxville, USA, Kinross Gold Corporation’s Kubaka Mine in Far East Russia and Vale’s Copper Cliff Mine in Ontario, Canada.
Mr. MacDonald spent 15 years with Vale and at the Copper Cliff Mine, he increased production by over 125%, from 900K tones per annum (TPA) to 1.2M TPA through effective operational decisions. Recently, Mr. MacDonald’s time with Hudbay Minerals Inc was also transformative. He extended the life of mine at Flin Flon, in Manitoba, by three years and oversaw a $65M operating budget and a $15M capital budget.
Mr. MacDonald is a qualified Mining Engineer with a Bachelor of Science in Mining Engineering and an MBA. Mr. MacDonald joined Wallbridge Mining in 2020 and was appointed VP of Mining Projects in July 2022.
